The best-dressed stars on the red carpet in 2013-BBC CULTURE

The winner of the Best Actress Oscar for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, this year’s golden girl, Jennifer Lawrence went for the full-on fairytale look with a strapless, blush-coloured gown by Dior Haute Couture. The metallic box clutch and a touch of Chopard bling only added to the all-round princess aura. (Frazer Harrison/Getty Images) .   See more after the cut...

Christina Ricci was spot on at the Met’s themed Chaos to Couture gala − this sculpted, plaid dress by queen of punk Vivienne Westwood was perfect. Tartan, fishnets, strappy black platforms – all punk’s signifiers were present and correct. (Larry Busacca/Getty Images
The always classy Julianne Moore went for a sharp, black-and-white, long-sleeved gown by her friend – and favoured designer – Tom Ford at the Golden Globe Awards this year. The angular, grown-up look was completed with a polished up-do and a flash of jewellery by Bulgari. (Jason Merritt/Getty Images)
Always thoroughly quirky and of-the-moment, singer Solange Knowles wore a sparkly emerald-green dress by Ralph & Russo Couture at the Grammys – complete with dramatic, thigh-high split at the front. The pink-studded Louboutin court shoes added the final, glamorous flourish. (Christopher Polk/Getty Images for NARAS)
Winner of Best Supporting Actress Anne Hathaway went for a light palette, like many of this year’s Oscar red carpet brigade. The demure, column-style gown by Prada in the palest pink was understated and elegant – minimalist from the front, strikingly detailed from the back, with criss-cross ribbons and a sash bow. Statement jewellery by Tiffany & Co topped the look off. (Christopher Polk/Getty Images)
Cate Blanchett’s custom-made, palest-pink Balenciaga dress was a hit at the premiere of Blue Jasmine at MoMA, New York. Fabulously-skewed proportions met couture-like lines in this astonishing creation, completed by Van Cleef & Arpels jewellery. If anyone can pull it off, Cate can. (Evan Agostini/Invision/AP)
Star of Homeland, Claire Danes won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Series, and oozed old-fashioned Hollywood glamour in a stunning scarlet Atelier Versace dress, along with sparkly Lorraine Schwartz jewels. (RobynBeck/AFP/Getty Images)
In a wildly voluminous, printed Giles Deacon gown, Sarah Jessica Parker channelled the punk theme with panache at the Met’s Chaos to Couture gala in New York. The Mohican-like headpiece by Philip Treacy provided the final, anarchic touch. (Denis Van Tine/PA Wire)
Tilda Swinton was effortlessly cool and elegant as ever in this stunning Haider Ackermann ensemble − made-to-measure, fluid golden trousers and top − at the Cannes Film Festival. Mistress of the androgynous look, the Scottish actress sported natural make-up and red lips, topped with blonde, punky, bouffant hair. (Ian Gavan/Getty Images)
Arguably France’s best-dressed actress, Marion Cotillard opted for a stunning, canary yellow Dior tulle-and-satin gown with sheer panel at this year’s BAFTAs. A substantial, silver Chopard necklace added some extra oomph to the look. (Gareth Cattermole/Getty Images)
